What's happening?

More than 90 Guide Dog owners, puppy raisers, trainers, volunteers, friends and family have signed up to raise money for Guide Dogs Association by taking part in a skydive during the summer of 2024.

Participants are scattered throughout the UK with each person being placed in a small group in their geographical area. A team leader will organise the date and place of the skydive for their group.

The skydives will take place throughout the UK during June, July, August and September 2024. This will be the first experience of skydiving for the majority of participants but they are passionate about assisting and supporting Guide Dogs owners.

Improving mental health

Why are you doing this?

When a Guide Dog retires aged 11, the Guide Dog owner may have to wait up to 2 years for a new Guide Dog. In that time, their lives often grind to a halt. It seems that two of the major problems resulting in this long wait are a lack of puppies especially for Guide Dogs and secondly, there is a need for more Guide Dog mobility officers to be trained.

Matching a Guide Dog to a visually impaired person is a very complicated procedure but with the lack of puppies and a lack of trained mobility officers, this procedure is bound to take much longer. We are trying to raise as much money as we can to plug this gap and enable the Guide Dog Association to have more puppies and more mobility officers.
